That was the take out from Ballarat Basketball chief executive Neville Ivey after the first major weekend of crowds at the Ballarat Sports and Events Centre.

Ivey said one of the biggest issues which he noticed almost immediately was the line to the cafe before and during the match breaks.

"From what I noticed the line flowed well from the front door scanning, then all of a sudden I was up to the cafe and there were a lot of people," he said. "It took me a while to realise it was actually the line to the cafe." He said it was hoped a separate coffee line would be able to be created in time for the Rush and Miners first home match against Bendigo on May 1.

Another issue was the selling of merchandise, which was set up for the Vixens near the line to the cafe.

Ivey said while the Rush and Miners merchandise sales were not usually on the level seen at the Vixens games, there could be greater use made of the secondary courts.

He said one of the big takeaways was the fan engagement.

"I was sitting next to Steve Moneghetti who has been coming to our games for years and he was blown away by the courtside seating," he said.

"(Wendouree MP) Juliana Addison was watching the Vixens and couldn't believe how close to the action you were."

One thing noticeable was the lack of a corporate boxes, however Ivey says come the start of the season, there will be 140 seats around the four sides of the court which would cater for sponsors.

"It is based on the NBA experience. It's courtside and it's quite a unique offering. It'll also have a food beverage service and there will also be courtside bars which will be open.

Ivey said the Vixens on court entertainment, competitions and music product showed him what could be achieved at the stadium.

"It all adds up to the experience," he said. "We want to make this a major event destination for everyone around Ballarat and the state."
