The seven-footer, who has spent the past five years in the US College system came out of quarantine on Thursday and will fly in to join the team for its matches against Hobart Chargers and North West Tasmania.
Perry comes to the Miners after four years playing Division I college basketball at Saint Mary's, the alma mater of fellow Aussies Patty Mills and Matthew Dellavedova, and more recently at UC Riverside.
After playing limited minutes with St Mary's, Perry is coming off a strong senior season at UC Riverside.
The centre started all 22 games with the Highlanders, averaging 11.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, including a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double against UC Irvine in the Big West tournament semi-final and a season-high of 21 points against Pac-12 powerhouse Washington.
Miners head coach Brendan Joyce Perry's height and flexibility will be an asset to the side going forward. "We are really excited to obtain Jock as he is coming off a great year at college," Joyce said.
"He is going to bring some much needed height to the team along with some sharp shooting for a 7 footer.
"He is a smart player to go along with his versatility and skill package and this will allow him to play inside and outside." Jock and Deng will provide a great unique interior presence and target for our team and also support for each other with their ability to play both 5 and 4 positions."
