Byron Exner, 56, appeared at the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Friday for sentencing after a magistrate found him guilty of four charges in March, including two counts of trespassing.
Exner entered the rear yard of his former partner's property in Ballarat twice in December, 2019, without her authority or lawful excuse.
CCTV footage shows Exner at the property on the two occasions. He was on a community corrections order at the time. In February last year, Exner committed two family violence-related offences against another former partner.
The court was told Exner had spent four months on remand in relation to the charges, he was assaulted a number of times and was moved into protected custody.
He currently cares for his mother and has not been in trouble with the police since the last incident in February last year.
Magistrate Ron Saines said he could not find any evidence of remorse by Exner, who had been a police officer for 28 years and worked in the family violence unit.
Exner has already served his sentence through pre-sentence detention. His CCO was cancelled and he was fined $1500.
