Running a clinic with schoolkids, as part of the Sporting Schools program, Markovic jumped at the opportunity while sidelined with injury.
Creswick Primary's sports coordinator Vicki Hughes said these clinics helped make important memories for the students - everyone remembers when big stars came to their primary school for a day.
"This term, we were lucky enough to secure soccer, and it snowballed from there because of the big match on Saturday," she said.
"I keep staying, you don't know what's going to happen in the future, or what journey you'll take, but you could be sitting here - I've taught AFL footballers, and Olympian Jarred Tallent - if you see these people and they inspire you, take up that opportunity."
The school wasn't able to run clinics last year, but still received $1300 to buy new sporting equipment, a massive boost for the school, Ms Hughes said.
"It supported not only with coaching, but it's helped us financially, and it gets the kids out and about running around, and that's what we want to see as well," she said.
The school was also lucky enough to get some free tickets for the match, at Mars Stadium in Ballarat - kickoff is at 2.35pm.
