Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives arrested a 30-year-old man of no fixed place of abode on Saturday.
He was charged with dangerous driving causing death and remanded in custody to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court today.
It followed emergency services being called to the Glenelg Highway after three trucks collided just after 5pm on Wednesday, May 12.
The driver of one of the trucks, a 37-year-old South Australian man, died at the scene.
One of the drivers, a male in his 30s, was flown to the Royal Melbourne Hospital for treatment of upper body injuries while a third driver in his 40s was transported by road ambulance to Ballarat Base Hospital.
