A THREE-point jump shot from Ringwood's Jack Barry with just seconds on the clock has delivered more heartbreak for the Ballarat Miners, going down by two points on Saturday night.

It was the shooting woes of the Miners that once again plagued the team and eventually cost it a win, with the visitors managing to shoot at just 36.8 per cent on the night, as opposed to their opponents who went at 46.8 per cent.
This was compounded by a poor seven from 34 at the three point line (20.6 per cent),
Other than Jock Perry, who top scored with 25 points and William Hickey who was solid in close with 22 points - but was zero of six from the three-point line - the Miners struggled to contain the Ringwood offence.
Unlike last week where two players got off the chain, this week it was across the board with Ringwood star CJ Asuncion-Byrd top scoring with 23 points, but impressively shooting at 61.5 per cent on the night including making all seven free throws.
Sam Short had another dirty night, with just seven points and fouled out having only been on court for 24 minutes while Matt Kenyon was held to just five points in his 27 minutes on the court.
For the Miners, the connection that has been lacking in the early rounds of the season needs to be found quickly with another huge away game next weekend against Mount Gambier.
Mount Gambier is flying with a 5-1 record so far.
Understrength Rush no match for Ringwood
WHEN you're only taking seven players on the court, it was always going to be a tough ask for the Ballarat Rush, and that's how it proved for them on Saturday night, overpowered by Ringwood Hawks.
Unfortunately for the Ballarat side, the slow starts which have been a feature of many of its matches this year returned as they gave up 24 points in the first quarter, trailing by 11 at the first change, from there it was always a matter of playing catch-up basketball.
Despite the three-pronged effort of Kasey Burton (13 points, 10 rebounds), Alisha Froling (nine points, 12 rebounds) and Claire Constable (nine points, nine rebounds), the Rush were always behind in the contest.
And it doesn't get any easier next weekend when the Rush travel to play Mount Gambier.
It then leads into a nightmare weekend away to Bendigo, before a home match the following night against Nunawading.
