Skipton co-coach Sam Willian told The Courier it was an impressive display and great reward for his side.
"It was good to see, it's been a slow process with such a new team. Finally everything kind of clicked," he said.
"It was the first time we've had some momentum and actually used it and kicked goals."
The Emus travel to Creswick in round six to face the Wickers and Brownlow medalist Dane Swan who will make the trip down for a one off appearance.
Ballan, Clunes and Learmonth await them in the following three weeks, all winnable clashes that could cement Skipton in the top eight.
"It's the old cliche we take it week by week, but we did look at this block of games and we see a lot of games that we think we should win," Willian said.
"We'll focus on Creswick this week ... but we just want to try and get a bit of a roll on."
The inclusion of co-coach Andrew Pitson back into the line-up was a boost for the victors, the key forward kicking five goals in his return from a broken thumb at the weekend.
An up-and-going Pitson sets the Emus up forward of the ball and provides leadership on the ground, something they'll need in the coming weeks.
"He was unbelievable," Willian said.
"Just his presence down there ... he takes the best defender and allows guys like (Rhys) Monument, Marcus Smith and (James) Cusack to get a weaker defender.
"His goal sense is something we need."
