The man, who The Courier, has chosen not to name because he avoided a conviction, pleaded guilty at the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Monday.
His defence lawyer Heidi Keighran said her client had ridden from his grandmother's house where he lived for only two or three blocks on the bike.
Magistrate Tim Walsh said the accused was a 'bit old' to be 'squirting around' on a Peewee 50 motorbike.
"You know you have to be registered and you have to have a licence to ride one," he said.
"It is just boneheaded."
Mr Walsh said the accused was known to police so they probably kept an eye out for him.
The accused was sentenced to a good behaviour bond without conviction with a requirement to continue mental health treatment as determined by his doctor.
