While the Ballarat Sports and Events Centre - or BSEC - is okay, it really does lack the panache of a 'Maddison Square Garden' or even 'The Miner Dome'.
TELL US YOUR THOUGHTS IN THE POLL BELOW
Traditionally Australian stadiums are named to reflect the deeds or the visions of those who have made the stadium possible.
Think Rod Laver Arena or John Cain Arena in Melbourne.
The other option is something that reflects the teams that play there, such as the Miner Dome has been known in the past.
So the question is, what or who should we look to name the new multi-million dollar stadium after?
TAKE THE POLL
The other thing we need to consider, is it a dome? Is it a stadium? Is it an arena? or maybe it's a garden, there are endless options available.
So here's a few ideas to mull over: Borner Arena, named after legendary Ballarat big man and former Boomer Ray Borner.
What about Robyn Maher Stadium, named after the triple-Olympian and Atlanta Olympics bronze medalist. Having a Maher Stadium next door to Mars Stadium although might confuse the tourists.
Potentially we could honour the legendary imports like Eric Cooks or current Rush mentor Eric Hayes.
Or how about this, Peter Eddy Arena, named after the man and who was instrumental in having the stadium built and has championed the cause of the sport for decades.
Or perhaps you have an even better idea. We have set up an online poll at thecourier.com.au, let us know your thoughts.
