The 43-year-old man, who cannot be named in order to protect the complainant's identity, is facing 12 counts of rape, two counts of common law assault and one count of making a threat to inflict serious injury.
The 15 offences allegedly arose out of five different incidents at the couple's family home occurring from January 2011 to September 2015.
The man and the complainant had been married for 13 years and had children before they separated in March 2016.
In the same year, the complainant reported the allegations to the police and the man was arrested in 2017.
The man is strongly denying the allegations, telling the 12-person jury his former wife was a liar and he never forced her into any form of sexual activity..
The trial opened on May 20 and was closed to the public while the complainant gave her evidence and was cross-examined.
A witness gave evidence in an open court on Tuesday, followed by the police informant who was cross-examined on Wednesday.
The prosecution closed its case on Wednesday afternoon.
Defence barrister Christopher Pearson said the accused man would give evidence.
The trial will continue on Thursday in Ballarat before Judge Frank Gucciardo.
The accused man has pleaded not guilty to 15 charges including 12 counts of rape, two counts of common law assault and one count of making a threat to inflict serious injury.
