The man held one of the seven division one winning entries in the national draw on Saturday, with each winning $829,588.27.
"I found out on the weekend," the man, who wished to remain anonymous, explained.
"I had just come inside after mowing the lawn and my wife had tea on the table.
"As I was sitting down, I decided to check the numbers and that's when I saw the division one win. I couldn't believe it! I thought, 'what the bloody hell is this!'.
"I didn't scream or say anything about the win. I just passed the phone to my wife and said, 'Hey darl, take a look at this, will ya?'.
"My wife started screaming! She can't believe it. She wants to hear it confirmed before we tell anyone or do any celebrating."
The win was confirmed when the man received a call on his way to work on Monday morning and upon hearing the news, he pulled over his car.
The couple planned on going out for a "really nice dinner" to celebrate, with other plans to either buy or build a new house. The remainder of the funds will be saved for their retirement.
The winning numbers in Saturday's TattsLotto draw 4167 were 34, 24, 36, 32, 1 and 26, while the supplementary numbers were 7 and 27.
The man's winning ticket was purchased at Williams News and Lotto on Sturt Street.
Owner Bruce Thomson said his entire team was celebrating the division one win.
"When we first heard the news that we had sold a division one prize in Saturday night's Tattslotto draw we were all very excited,' he said.
"This is the second division one winning entry we have sold in the last six months. We have now sold eight division one winning tickets in eight years.
"In these difficult times at the moment with COVID, it really helps create some positivity and puts everyone in such a fun and happy mood."
