Down 12-0 against Nunawading at home on Saturday night and 18 points to rear at quarter time, the Rush never gave themselves a chance of getting back into the contest, eventually going down by 23.
On Sunday it was more of the same against the previously winless Diamond Valley, going down 11-3 early in the contest, and even this time they recovered this time to lead into the last change, the Rush ran out of puff, going down 85-78.
The cold starts have been a major concern for the Ballarat side this season, a season which promised so much and now has them languishing with a 3-8 record from their 11 matches, and still without a home win.
On the positive side, Taylah Wynne had arguably her best weekend in the Rush jersey, top-scoring for the side on both nights.
Her 21 points led the way as the Rush reduced the margin on Saturday night down to eight points with just five minutes remaining.
But up against a Nunawading side which boasted a starting five, all with WNBL experience, it always looked a bridge too far after the poor start as the Spectres rattled on the final 15 points of the game to run out convincing winners.
Sunday's game was disappointing however, despite an improved showing from recruit Jasmine Simmons who got on the scoreboard with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Rush will need to dust themselves off next weekend, but at least they won't have to hit the road this time with just one match scheduled at home on Saturday night against Knox.
