More than 80 runners took part in the five-kilometre route in Victoria Park on Saturday morning while Wallaby Track Parkrun had 38 runners on the Brown Hill course.
"The number's probably a little down at the moment. We only got word that we were allowed open on Thursday, so it has been quite short notice," she said.
"Even though people are keen to come back, they might have had plans or other running plans organised and, of course, we had to organise our volunteers quite quickly because we can't operate without our team of volunteers.
"We have quite a regular group that come and they're always happy when we can restart and we had some first timers for the first time today, so that was awesome."
Ms Mayne said Parkrun was not just about fitness, but also community connection.
"Of course, people don't have that when Parkrun isn't able to operate. We're very keen to be able to start back again when we can and see people being active and connecting with the community, it's great," she said.
Both Parkruns run every Saturday morning at 8am from Victoria Park and Wallaby Track. For more information or to register, visit www.parkrun.com.au/ballarat or www.parkrun.com.au/wallabytrack.
Under Victorian government restrictions, Parkrun has only been cleared to return for events in regional Victoria.
