Jonathan Wilson, 45, appeared at the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Wednesday for a filing hearing.
The Golden Point man was charged with dangerous driving causing death, failing to give way to a pedestrian, dangerous driving and careless driving.
Charge sheets obtained by The Courier say Wilson was driving on Doveton Street South and turned onto Eyre Street but failed to give way to a pedestrian crossing the road on April 16.
Ms Loader sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital where she later died.
A family member of Ms Loader appeared at court for the hearing.
Wilson was charged by the Major Collision Investigation Unit for the offending on Friday.
He remains on bail and will return to court in November.
