The funding, part of the $5 million Spotlight on Sebastopol project, will see improvements to the Yuille Homestead site and Yuille Park. Plans feature shelters and furniture.
Slade Yuille, great, great grandson of William Yuille, is appreciative of the commitment.
"It's been neglected over many years," Mr Yuille said.

"I look forward to seeing the Yuille Homestead receiving the treatment deserving of an historic site," Ms Settle said. "This is an incredibly important part of Ballarat."
Mayor Daniel Moloney said he was delighted to work with the state government and local community on the 2022 project.
"Everything that local government does is about getting locals coming up with ideas for local areas. You can't ask for much more than that," Cr Moloney said.
