The City of Ballarat is in the middle of the pack for vaccination rates, according to the latest statistics released by the federal government.
In the first round of statistics to break down vaccination rates by local government area, the City of Ballarat ranks 26th in fully vaccinated rates at 39.7 per cent, but just 45th in first dose rates at 58.9 per cent.
In comparison, Greater Bendigo is ahead of the City of Ballarat in both metrics with 40.7 per cent of its population being fully vaccinated and 62 per cent having received their first dose.
Greater Geelong is even further ahead with 41.4 per cent being fully vaccinated and 63.8 per cent receiving a first dose.
Strong rates continue through the south-west of Victoria, as the Borough of Queenscliffe leads the charge with 64 per cent of its 2610 residents receiving their first dose and 86.9 per cent fully vaccinated, followed by the Surf Coast Shire at 48.3 per cent and 73.1 per cent.
The remote Buloke Shire in the north-west of the state has the second most fully vaccinated residents with 48.4 per cent of its 5123 population receiving both jabs and 71.6 per cent having at least one.
On the other end of the tally, the City of Melbourne has the lowest first dose rates in the state at 39.3 per cent and the fourth lowest rate of fully vaccinated residents at 24.5 per cent.
Closer to home, the City of Melton has the second fewest fully vaccinated residents at 23.9 per cent and sixth lowest first dose rates at 46.5 per cent. Also near the bottom are Hume, Greater Dandenong, Whittlesea and Brimbank.
Moorabool Shire ranks 50th of the state's 79 council areas in first dose rates at 57.1 per cent and 64th in fully vaccinated rates at 31.6 per cent.
Meanwhile, Hepburn Shire ranks 21st in first dose rates at 64.9 per cent and 12th in full vaccinations at 42.4 per cent.
Pyrenees Shire ranks 36th in first dose rates at 61.9 per cent and 30th in full vaccinations at 38.8 per cent.
