It was September 25, 2020 when Ballarat saw one of its biggest snowfalls in years when the heavens opened on that cold Friday afternoon.
IN THE NEWS
What would have been the usual grand final holiday - not that we had a grand final in Victoria to celebrate in 2020 - turned into a day when everyone got out and about and enjoyed the rarest of snowfalls.
Monday's top temperature of 10.8 degrees might have felt cold, but on September 25 last year we maxed out at just 7 degrees.
So far this year, September is actually looking pretty much on average.

With eight days left, we are on track for an average amount of rainfall, while average temperatures are actually slightly up on the norm.
This month, Ballarat has seen 53mm of rain, which is about 18mm below the long term average. Our wettest day to date came on September 4 when 23.4mm fell.
Encouragingly for a for Ballarat's summer, for those of us who prefer it a bit warmer, we've already seen two days above 20 degrees with a top so far this month on September 2 at 21.7 degrees, unusually early.
But it's probably as warm as it will get with the long term forecast predicting temperatures no greater than 19 degree for the rest of the month.
It looks like one more cold front will come through before we move into daylight savings in the first weekend of October, that is likely to occur on Friday and continue into AFL grand final day.
A top of just 11 degrees is planned for grand final day across Ballarat, but if the city is still in lockdown, maybe that's not the worst thing.
But the AFL would be pleased with the forecast, given it's likely to be 25 degrees and sunny in Perth on Saturday for the decider between Melbourne and Western Bulldogs.
