Ms O'Keefe writes for The Courier's youth platform SHOUT to share her insight into the yo-yo of lockdowns, not knowing when she might see family again and her grandma's best approach to pandemic life.
SHOUT is an annual program encouraging high school students across the city to share their voice on the issues that matter most to them. This is also a platform to be creative.
Students at participating schools have also had the chance to access weekly lectures from The Courier's reporting team for advice on strong opinion writing to what makes for a quirky, fun story, the art of podcasting and how to take an awesome news photo.
The SHOUT 16-page lift-out inside The Courier tomorrow offers a look at some of the work students have produced.
Racism, climate change and pandemic life are among themes covered with students clear on what this means to them as a young person growing up in Ballarat right now.
