Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit and Divisional Response Unit detectives have charged two males after an allegedly stolen vehicle was seen driving erratically in the Ballarat area yesterday afternoon.
Police were initially called after an allegedly stolen BMW X5 was seen in Sebastopol about 12.30pm.
Police officers, with the assistance of the police Air Wing helicopter, were able to track the car to the Stockland Wendouree shopping centre carpark, where it's alleged the male driver and passenger dumped the car before fleeing from the scene on foot.
Police were able to locate and arrest the two males in the adjoining retirement village a short time later.
After being interviewed, an 18-year-old Ballarat man was charged with aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and other traffic related offences.
He has been remanded to appear in the Ballarat Magistrates' Court today.
A 16-year-old Ballarat East boy has been charged with aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and other traffic related offences.
He has been remanded to appear at a Children's' Court at a later date.

EARLIER, THURSDAY:
An afternoon police chase, stretching across town, has ended with the apprehension of two teenagers.
Ballarat Crime Investigation Unit and Divisional Response Unit detectives arrested two men after an allegedly stolen vehicle was seen driving erratically in the Ballarat area earlier today.
Police were initially called after an allegedly stolen BMW X5 was sighted in Sebastopol around 12.30pm.
Officers, with the assistance of the air wing, were able to track the car to a Norman Street shopping centre carpark before the male driver and passenger dumped the car and fled on foot.
Police located and arrested the two youths in an adjoining retirement village a short time later.
IN OTHER NEWS
The teenagers from Ballarat, aged 18 and 16-years, are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
They are expected to be interviewed and charged with offences including aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, and traffic related offences.
