IN OTHER NEWS:
In Australia, since the first parkrun was established on the Gold Coast, more than 400 sites have now been added with over 78,500 events conducted around Australia since that time.
The book, On Every Saturday, which will be released on November 9, has been produced by author David Crook whose parkrun life began in Worcestershire in the UK in 2018, and is now a regular parkrunner in North Sydney.
"On Every Saturday celebrates Australia's first 10 parkrun years. It outlines parkrun's history - from its start in London's Bushy Park in 2004, to its presence in 22 countries today," Cook said.
"It has profiles of parkruns from across Australia highlighting the people and stories behind the events, the sometimes life-changing impact of parkrun, and explaining how easy it is to become involved."
The Ballarat run has been noted for averaging 128 runners per week, with a feature on the February 2019 run, which was the 200th and featured marathon champion Steve Moneghetti who agreed to the be the tail walker, which brought a lot of visitors to the city with a chance to run alongside the legendary Olympic runner.
It is one of 32 different runs around the country that will be featured in the book.
The Ballarat parkrun is at 8am every Saturday and takes place at Victoria Park.
