The Hawks were one of last season's most impressive outfits, winning 11 games en route to a second-place finish before bundling out in the first round of the post-season.
Eddy said pre-season trainings had been focused on gearing up for the one-day format.
"We were preparing for one-day cricket anyway because that was what the start of the season was going to be anyway," Eddy said.
"Now it's a full season (of one-dayers), we're just getting our heads around that and putting ourselves in white ball mode. It's a whole lot different to red ball cricket.
"We've had a pretty good record (in one-dayers) in recent years. Coming off a solid season for the club last year is something we want to repeat.
"Getting back to finals is the goal but we've got a lot to do before that."
Eddy is entering his first season as East Ballarat coach having crossed from North Ballarat in the winter.
"It's been different getting back into the coaching side of things but everyone has been really welcoming and jumped on board," he said.
"There is just a really good feel at the club at the moment. We're pretty relaxed but we know what we've got to do.
"We're really focused on everyone playing their role, whether that be individually or the team as a whole.
"That's been the clear message that the group wants and what I want as coach.
"I think we'll be a little bit more consistent this year. The last couple seasons have been a bit hit-and-miss, but we're hoping to be more consistent for the whole period of the game, not just small patches."
"If we play our roles and play them to the best of our abilities I'm sure we're going to have a successful year."
The Hawks' enter the summer with a strong batting line-up led by last season's top run-scorer Harry Ganley. The top-order bat piled on 512 runs at 32 last season.
However, East Ballarat has had to farewell its leading wicket-taker.
Oliver Hayes, who claimed 32 wickets last summer and played in the integral role in the Hawks' 2018-19 premiership, has returned to Melbourne.
Eddy was hopeful a number of squad members would step up this summer.
"Our middle-tier players are the ones I want to be a bit more consistent this year and step up," he said.
"There are a couple of holes that have been created through people moving towns and things like that. So, it's our middle tier players we really want to be more solid."
