Reigning premiers Central Wendouree continued where it left off last season, defeating BMS by 29 shots.
The home side managed to claim all 16 points available, thanks to three rink wins by five, four and 20 shots respectively.
Creswick, the side Central Wendouree defeated in last season's grand final, got its redemption campaign off to the best start, 63-47 winners over Clunes.
Clunes were able to claim two points with a one-shot win in rink three, however, Creswick's rink skippered by Alan Annear were too strong, winners 25-12.
Midlands, finalists from the 2020-21 season, dominated Webbcona away from home, 70-28 winners.
The visitors took home 16 points as their three rinks won by an average of 14 shots.
The rink skippered by Gregory Plier was especially impressive, coming away 25-8 winners.
City Oval, who missed out on a grand final last season by two shots, started its campaign well with a 66 (14) to 53 (2) win over Sebastopol.
The rink skippered by Chris Smith was the strongest on the day for the victors, winners 26 shots to 17.
