Miller is no stranger to the CHNL, having already played and coached with Creswick and coached at Rokewood-Corindhap before a stint with Lexton.
A chance meeting with Waubra president Simon Tol led to Mel Miller taking on the role.
She will also serve as senior netball coordinator.
"I stepped down from coaching out at Lexton for the season and I was actually thinking of doing something completely different like mentoring coaches or clubs," Miller said.
"I actually ended up getting a cleaning job out at the president's house, so that's how it came about.
"He basically showed me the vision and the strategic plan that the club had put in place for the next five years and that's why I took the job, because I'm really excited about it."
Miller has enjoyed a long and successful netball career to date, part of it already spent in the Central Highlands Netball League.
She played state netball as a junior in Victoria before moving to Western Australia at 18 to play in the state league.
She was selected in the Western Australia Institute of Sport open side, where she played for three years.
Miller then went to the United States before returning to Victoria and joining Creswick.
She won two league best and fairests while at the Wickers and began her coaching career.
Rokewood-Corindhap was next for three years before most recently joining Lexton, where Miller coached for three seasons.
Waubra netball coordinator Courtney McCaw said the club is excited for Miller to begin.
"She's really, really passionate and she has a lot of experience which is exactly what we need out at the club moving forward," she said.
"She's just going to be a fresh face and she's got lots of ideas already.
"She's already jumping into things, organising nights to speak to the coaches, getting pre-season ready, organising camps, so she has just gone straight into it."
Miller added she is excited to be involved in the CHNL again.
"There's a lot of coaches and players that I've either played or know and I always have good rapport with them all, so it'll be fun," she said.
"It's a different style of netball actually, so to be back after three years is a big task and I'm really looking forward to it."
