The squad has been selected from the best under-16 players in the Gisborne District Cricket Association, Ballarat Cricket Association, Grampians Cricket Association and Castlemaine Cricket Association after trials in September.
The 13-man strong squad played its first game at the weekend, narrowly losing to Waves region.
Coach James Dickinson said some areas with their batting will need to be improved on, but they showed energy in the field.
They will play again this Sunday against Rivers region.
From there, the squad travels to Hamilton for a four-day tournament from December 13-16.
There, the boys will play several 50-over games and 20/20 matches.
Lucas Cavigan from Gisborne Cricket Club will lead the side as captain.
