A man wanted over a motorbike crash that seriously injured a person in Laverton in Melbourne's west is known to frequent the Ballarat area.

Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for 27 year-old James Polson, who has a warrant out for his arrest.
It is alleged he was riding a stolen motorbike with a pillon passenger when he crashed on April 5 this year.
The crash resulted in the passenger suffering serious injuries.

Polson is also known to frequent the Melton, Taylors Hill, Kings Park and Werribee areas.
He is described as being Caucasian in appearance with a thin build, brown eyes, black hair and has a large tattoo on the left side of his neck.
Investigators have released an image of Polson in the hope that someone may be able to provide information on his current whereabouts.
