On Saturday, the Bunnies will play their first game on turf in Buninyong since their senior side moved into first grade ahead of the 2018-19 season.
"It's huge for us," club vice-president Stuart Squire said. "We've had really limited opportunites for our firsts and seconds sides to play at home. We haven't really had a lot of people playing in Buninyong full stop.
"So, this means a lot to the community. We can have people come down on a Saturday afternoon to watch their local team."
Previously, Buninyong was only home to hard wickets with the club's firsts and seconds sides forced to play their home games at St Patrick's College.
Works began on the new wicket in late-2020 after years of planning were boosted by support from various state and local bodies.
Squire said the development was important for the club in the long term.
"It's not so much about the people playing today, but the kids of tomorrow," he said.
"Now there's a really good pathway and with a turf wicket it allows them to stay at the club. We're really starting to put the building blocks in for good, successful players and success in general for the club."
