The Lynx will base themselves in Ballarat for all of January to compete in the WNBL's new regional Victorian festival of basketball.
The Summer Basketball Festival will see six matches involving every WNBL club, played at the Ballarat Sports and Events Centre.
Perth Lynx general manager Brent Dawkins is no stranger to Ballarat, having attended university in the city and grown up in Bacchus Marsh.
Dawkins said the club was eager to immerse itself in the local community.
"We're really excited to come to Ballarat," he told The Courier.
"I've told the playing group we'll definitely be doing some clinics with the local basketball fraternity and no doubt some trips to Sovereign Hill and the sites around town.
"We're really keen for the Ballarat community to get behind us. We'd love the support."
The Lynx will start their WNBL campaign away against Adelaide on January 2 before relocating to Ballarat the following day.
While early preparations have been hampered, coach Ryan Petrik will have one of the league's most exciting squads at his disposal once the season starts proper.
Former WNBA All-Rookie team member Jackie Young has signed for the Lynx after winning a gold medal in the 3x3 at Tokyo earlier this year.
Joining her is compatriot Marina Mabrey, who placed third in the WNBA Most Improved Player Award last year.
"We've got a really exciting roster that we've put together," Dawkins said.
"We've got three Australian Opals in our team and two superstars from the WNBA. They're probably two of the better Americans that have come out and played in Australia for the past five or 10 years.
"We're going to be an exciting team that will hopefully score heavily. I think the Ballarat community will enjoy a great night out when they come and watch us play."
The Lynx's first game in Ballarat is January 19 against the UC Capitals.
