The eight-year-old is among 32 nominations for the 1800m feature, which has had its stakemoney boosted by $5000.
Ballarat trainer Thomas Carberry has raced Diplomac Jack sparingly this year, with just the six runs since he saluted at Burrumbeet.
He backed up with a second Great Western Cup.
Diplomac Jack then returned from a lengthy break for two starts, including a third in the Coleraine Cup, and has not raced since the Avoca Cup in mid-October.
The Ballarat partnership of Ciaron Maher and David Eustace have the biggest representation with six entries.
The Archie Alexander-trained Swiss Hero is the form runner among the nominations, having his past three starts.
Andrew Bobbin is also considering returning to his former stomping ground, having formerly worked for Matt Cumani in Ballarat.
Bobbin is now training in his own right at Lake Fyans near Stawell.
He has four nominations for the Cup after a highly successful Boxing Day, when he had doubles at Nhill and Kerang while saddling up 10 runners across four venues.
Bobbin won the Nhill Cup with Dubai Dominion, but he is not targeting Burrumbeet.
The Burrumbeet Cup has a field limit of 10 with four emergencies.
Burrumbeet Park and Windermere Racing Club has programmed seven races, which have attracted 314 nominations.
Acceptances will be finalised on Thursday.
