Several venues are offering celebration packages, and many attractions will be open on Saturday.
Kryal Castle will be closed for the Knight and Day music festival on Thursday and Friday, with Byron Bay hardcore legends Parkway Drive playing at midnight on Friday.
Monday, January 3 will be a public holiday in Victoria, and it's expected trains will run to a hot weather timetable on Friday, while the Ballarat Health Service drive-through testing clinic will also open and close early on Friday and Saturday.

- Medical - Eureka Medical Centre on Dana Street open 8am to 8pm
- Post offices - closed
COVID-19 testing
- BHS drive-through testing, Creswick Road - 7.30am to 1.30pm during the hot weather, returning to 9am to 6pm from January 2
- UFS testing clinic, Dana Street - closed January 1, reopening January 2 and 3 from 9am to 1pm.

Transport
- V/Line services on Friday will run to a hot-day timetable, while regular weekend timetables will be in place on January 1 and 2.
- All travel will be free on New Year's Eve from 6pm, until the first V/Line service from Melbourne on New Year's Day.
- Services on Monday, January 3 will run to a Saturday timetable.
- The Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre's 50 metre pool will be closed on December 30.
- The Black Hill and Brown Hill swimming pools will reopen January 2.
- Splash parks across the city will be operating.
