SUMMARY: Australia added eight to their overnight score before they lost their final two wickets, then the carnage began. Sri Lanka made a point to go after the tourists' bowlers but lost wickets at a rapid rate. Nathan Lyon and Travis Head claimed four scalps each and Mitchell Swepson picked up two wickets as Sri Lanka were all out for 113, with only Dimuth Karunaratne passing 20. Set a target of five, David Warner faced two dots and then hit a four and six to win it for Australia who go 1-0 up in the series.

MAN OF THE MOMENT: Travis Head. Took his first four wickets in Test cricket in the space of 17-ball spell. Natural variation had some deliveries turning back sharply while others skidded on and helped him trap two men lbw.

KEY MOMENT: Head's ball to dismiss Dinesh Chandimal. At that point Sri Lanka were 4-95 and trailing Australia by 14. Had Chandimal and Dhananjaya de Silva hung around, a challenging target of 80 on a turning wicket was not out of the question. Head changed that in one over though, spinning one between Chandimal's bat and pad before trapping Dhananjaya to put the result beyond doubt.

STAT OF THE DAY: Sri Lanka's 22.5 overs batted was the shortest completed innings in their Test history, helping Australia to their quickest win in 20 years.
