The warnings have been downgraded and the emergency app has released the following instructions.
It is not known if the there has been extensive damage from the large fire which burnt out 492 hectares around one of the first wind farms in Victoria at Challicum Hills near Ararat.

This Advice message is being issued for Ballyrogan, Buangor, Challicum.
- This Advice message replaces the Watch and Act issued at 3.15 pm Thursday 23 February.
- There is a grassfire at Hillside Rd, Buangor that is contained.
- Crews will continue to monitor the fire and will be on site throughout the night.
There is currently no threat, but residnets should stay informed and monitor conditions.
The road between Geelong and Ararat
What you should do:
- Keep the roads clear so emergency services can respond.

This Watch and Act message is being issued for Ballyrogan, Buangor, Challicum.
This message replaces the Advice message issued at 3:01 pm.
- There is a grassfire at Hillside Rd, Buangor that is not yet under control.
- This grassfire is travelling in a southerly direction from Challicum Hills towards Geelong Road.
Staying close to a building where you can shelter is the safest option, as conditions can change suddenly.
Continue to stay informed and monitor conditions.
What you should do:
- Monitor changes, including increased wind speed, change in wind direction, smoke or poor visibility that indicates the situation is changing.
- If you are away from home, do not return.
If the situation changes you will need to leave quickly. Plan to:
- Take your pets, medications, mobile phone and charger.
- Travel to the home of family or friends that are away from the warning area.
- Emergency services may not be able to help you if you decide to stay.
Impacts in your area:
- Grassfires can start and spread quickly, and are extremely dangerous.
- The following roads are closed: Geelong Road between Hillside-Geelong Road and Challicum Road.
