The Highlanders set a challenging 206-run target for Barwon in the second round match at Eastern Oval, and then had the Geelong-based association on the ropes at 4-26.
However a lack of bowling options saw Barwon recover and then complete the run chase with eight overs to spare.
Central Highlands coach Eamon Johnson said Ogilvie bowled exceptionally well for 4-37 off his 10 overs but an ankle injury to East Ballarat bowler Darcy Thompson on Saturday against Darley left the Highlanders “about two bowlers short”.
After winning the toss and batting, Central Highlands made steady progress through opener Brad Whittaker and first drop Anthony Taylor.
When both were out in quick succession, Liam Mottram and Nic Baird put on a 100 partnership to put the Highlanders into the ascendency.
Mottram top scored with 66, including five sixes, while Baird scored 39, including one six and a four.
Shaun Kingwell was the best of the Barwon bowlers with 3-34.
