POLICE and fire investigators are treating grass fires that flared up at Lucas on Wednesday as suspicious.

Twelve fire trucks were on scene at a grass fire off Cuthberts Road at around 4.20pm.
Shocking conditions prompted a quick and heavy response from firefighters.
CFA Media confirmed a stump fire started at 2.45pm and a grass fire in a paddock off Cuthberts Road started at 4.20pm.
Twelve fire brigade units were dispatched to the paddock fire with another three sent to the other fire, which burnt through about one hectare.
Ballarat Police Detective Sergeant Brett Caddy said arson chemists would be attending the scene on Thursday.
“The fires are being treated as suspicious,” he said.
He said at this stage it could not be confirmed if the fires were linked to suspicious fires at Lucas last week.
