YOUNG musicians will be showcased this weekend as the Ballarat Symphony Orchestra hosts its second annual Youth Concerto Concert.
Soloists under the age of 20 from Ballarat have auditioned for the concert, with four selected to perform a work of their choice with the orchestra.
President Jeff Moran said the first Youth Concerto Concert was held in 2015 with support from the SpringFest Season of Events, and said it was such a success that “we could not wait to do it again”.
“It's no secret that Ballarat is a locale with talent. As part of our commitment to encouraging young people to enjoy and participate in orchestral music, we seek applications from musicians from or who have studied in the Ballarat region,” he said.
“This year, each of the soloists will receive an increased scholarship of $400 to assist with their musical studies and will perform for the public.”
The event will be held Sunday at Wendouree Centre for Performing Arts. Tickets: wcpa.com.au/events.aspx
