A WOMAN is recovering from a steam rally accident amid the popular Lake Goldsmith event on Saturday.

The Courier understands the woman, aged in her 70s, was helping to stoke the burner in the heritage digger when it toppled to the side. She was injured from wood that fell with the digger.
St John Ambulance staff treated the woman for cuts and soreness at the scene.
Ambulance Victoria confirmed paramedics were called before noon and took the woman to Ballarat Health Services Base Hospital in a stable condition.

Lake Goldsmith Steam Rally has been running Saturday and Sunday and features 65 display sheds, steam and oil engines and blacksmithing.
The event has become the biggest steam rally in the southern hemisphere.
