Ballarat teenager Georgia Amoore is planning to use the United States college system as a launching pad to a full-time international basketball career.

Her dream is to be drafted into the WNBA, but she acknowledges this is a "big dream" and if this does not eventuate she would look to play internationally.
Amoore, who is a development player for Melbourne Boomers in the WNBL, leaves for the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in January.
Amoore, 18, said her post college basketball career had been one of the main issues she had raised with the college coach.
"I don't want to go there for four years and then fall off the face of the earth. He was really good explaining what happens."
The Ballarat Rush player said he told her the majority of girls went on to play either internationally or go to WNBA training camps, with some making rosters.
She said she was both nervous and excited about the move.
