Regional Roads Victoria has confirmed roadworks near the Sturt Street cenotaph will pause at 10.45am for Remembrance Day.
People wishing to pay their respects will still be able to access the site from the northern side.
Under current restrictions, up to 10 people can gather outdoors from any number of households.
PREVIOUSLY:
Lyons Street will be blocked to traffic at Sturt Street as works continue to create two U-turns at the intersection.
Drivers will no longer be able to drive north-south across Sturt Street, and will also be unable to turn right from Sturt Street into Lyons Street.
The works are part of a massive safety upgrade for Sturt Street, with new traffic lights installed at Raglan and Ascot streets - the Ascot Street lights began operating late last month, while works will continue on Raglan Street.
According to Regional Roads Victoria, between 2008 and 2018, 38 people were injured in 22 crashes at the Ascot Street intersection. In the same period, 15 people were injured in seven crashes at the Raglan Street intersection.
Talbot and Errard streets will also receive double U-turn treatments, while Windemere Street has been blocked to north-south traffic completely - incidentally creating the first new green space along Sturt Street in many years.
Between 2007 and 2018, 21 people were injured in 20 crashes at the Lyons Street intersection; 28 people were injured in 12 crashes at the Errard Street intersection; and 29 people were injured in 22 crashes at the Talbot Street intersection.
The works also include a shared pedestrian and cycling path between Pleasant and Dawson streets, sealing the existing gravel path on the southern side of the gardens and creating new signals to cross at some intersections.
