Last week, students held a ride-a-thon to support an even bigger ride - the Jimmy's Allsorts team taking part in the 500km Murray to Moyne charity cycling event and raising money for Ballarat's Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute.
Jim Waight, who leads the team, is in remission from non-Hodgkin's follicular lymphoma and visited the school to lead off the first wave of cyclists as they completed laps of the school's 440m driveway on their bikes, scooters or on foot.
"Before the ride-a-thon started, Jim came to talk to us about cancer and how we are making a difference," said senior student Isabeau Turner.

The school's grade 5/6 innovation leadership team organised the event, making a lap counter, countdown video and approaching local businesses for sponsorships.
"All together we achieved over 1000 laps, and we have raised so much money for cancer research. We raised more than $3000 so it was a great success and we are hoping to do something like this again next year," Isabeau said.
