The Soldiers Hill Artist Collective is working to set up its annual Art Walk this week, hanging the creations of local artists in shop fronts, cafes, studios and galleries throughout the suburb.
People will be able to walk the art trail from April 10 to April 18 to see the work of 14 artists.
It adds life to the community.
- Rosey King, Soldiers Hill Artist Collective chair
Soldiers Hill Artist Collective chair Rosey King said Art Walk was designed to highlight the historic features of Soldiers Hill and the large number of artists who live in the suburb.
"We wanted to highlight the historic features of Soldiers Hill as well as the fact it was an arts hub. There are a lot of artists who live in the area," she said.
"It gets cafe owners and businesses involved... and creates more engagement between people and the artists."
The trail includes Soldiers Woodfired Pizzeria, Absolute Building Design, Bike Rack Cafe, John Harbour Quality Butcher, Tin Roof Cafe, James and East Associates, Ian Kemp's studio and the Old Butcher Shop Gallery.
Ms King said the Art Trail added a vibrancy to the community.
"We had the Butcher Shop Gallery open this last weekend and had numerous people coming in, talking about their interests, getting excited and inspired by the work and meeting people," she said.
"I have personally met a lot of people not just in Soldiers Hill but in the greater Ballarat area.
"It is a great point of connection between people who can talk about their interests and their passions. It adds life to the community."
Soldiers Hill Artist Collective award winner Angeline Koot, a young artist and Federation University student, is a part of the exhibition curating and set up team with artists Cliff Adeney and Helmut Stenzel.

Two art workshops will run on April 11 at the North Ballarat Bowling Club teaching botanical printing on fabric and stitch basket weaving.
The workshops are made possibly by sponsorship from Telstra Store Ballarat. Fletcher Printers have also supported the Art Walk.
The Art Walk has run annually since its inception in 2015, but did not run in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions.
