Several clubs are struggling to fill firsts and seconds sides for this weekend's matches, with the problem only expected to worsen once thirds, fourths and fifths return next weekend.
The BCA board has stated it will work on the following premise: "when we can and where we can, we will continue to play and that impacted clubs must endeavor to field as many teams as possible based on the number of eligible players available".
The board, with assistance from the Pennant Committee, has ruled that from January 15 if clubs are unable to field teams due to player unavailability, the lowest grade will be forfeited. No fines will apply.
The boards have also advised that lowest grades are able to play with nine players if they wish.
Going forward, a player's eligibility for finals will be assessed on a case-by-case basis if they have been unable to play due to COVID.
To qualify for finals a player must play a minimum of six days in that particular grade, or a total of 11 days across multiple grades with their club in the current season.
Beginning next week, clubs will be required to inform the association midweek of the number of teams they will be able to field for the coming weekend.
BCA has warned isolation requirements may also affect umpire availability and only one umpire may be assigned to firsts games.
